This is mainly a bug fixing release. There've been some problems with ATI Radeon HD cards basically not rendering layouts. This looks like a bug in the graphics driver. I've tried emailing them to see if they say anything, but in the mean time I've implemented a workaround. Hopefully it works for all hardware :-\

Also, most Intel cards before wouldn't launch the picture editor. I really overestimated OpenGL support out there. I can't believe how limited the features of Intel graphics cards are. I seriously would recommend in future everyone get ATI/AMD or nVidia graphics cards when you get your next computer or laptop. They're much faster, more reliable and actually have a reasonable feature set. In the mean time, you can now launch the picture/animation editor on Intel cards, but you can't mirror, flip, crop or resize. At least you can put together animations, though.

The rest - mainly a slew of bug fixes and minor additions.

Edit 21st July 16:53 GMT: fixed a bug in Sprite's 'Set animation' action that was introduced in this build. Clear cache and re-download the setup if you're affected.

Changelog

Add

'First layout' project property. Choose the first layout that appears once you've exported the project.

Add

You can finally rename projects! (Not sure why I left this so long!)

Add

Image editor: zoom, pan dragging with middle mouse wheel

Change

The local HTTP server for preview doesn't bother trying port 80 any more. It will only use ports 50000-50100. This is to try and ensure it never conflicts with local web servers you might otherwise be running.

Bug Fix

Issue with some ATI Radeon HD cards not displaying layouts properly.

Bug Fix

Image/animations editor can now launch on those cheap-as-chips Intel cards, but with limited functions.

Bug Fix

Image editor scrollbars didn't work properly.

Bug Fix

Check failure attempting to run minifier without Java installed. Now prompts a proper error message.

Bug Fix

Adding a new layout had the first layer transparent rather than white.

Bug Fix

Check failures copying + pasting a text object from one layout to another

Bug Fix

Expressions of the form 'A < B ? C : D' parsed incorrectly and gave a syntax error. This is now fixed. (You could previously work around this with brackets '(A < B) ? C : D', but this is no longer necessary.)

Bug Fix

Could not set individual instance's animation speed (it affected all of them).

I knew the Intel chips are rather crappy but I didn't realize how much so. The editor still works with my laptop's intel chip but I'll consider your recommendation for ATI/AMD or nVidia graphics cards next time I buy a laptop to replace mine (which will be probably soon)

Thanks for the syntax fix!

Previewing seems to work better, for me at least. No longer need to change to 'file' as 'http' works fine on localhost :)

@Aindra, yeah, programming for Intel graphics chips is a nightmare. I've repeatedly found them slow & buggy over the years for both OpenGL and DirectX things. I think the DirectX support is a little better, but it's too late for us to backtrack from OpenGL now. Mind you, that ATI bug has been a massive headache as well!

@zenox98, great to hear! Must have been because it tried port 80, this build doesn't try at all.

Ati better than Intel?
In terms of driver support, absolutely.

Hopefully that Radeon bug is old news now!

This version allows me to use the editor on my old pc with a really old nvidia card now too

I only needed the editor for making animations, I don't usually use constructs graphical tools except for crop
