    Use some detector cells to detect the position of each ship block so you can't place stray block floating in spaaAAAAaaace!
    The easy way to do this is just make a square sprite (detector) 2X bigger ( -1 pixel ) than the block.
    Then make the detector a container of the ship cube so every time a block spawns in it also creates a detector.
    Then add a condition to the cubes:
    on left button clicked &
    mouse is overlapping detector

    You could also make a ghost sprite snapping to ever 32 block like this https://i.ytimg.com/vi/OQW5EUxs7ac/maxresdefault.jpg
