Game Instructions

There are now proper instructions at http://www.studio2.org.uk/c2/howtoplayavmico.pdf, about seven pages of them .... well ... it's not just "shoot at stuff".

Once you get the general idea it is actually fairly easy to play, but it's not an obvious pick up and play game.

AVMICO

Version 1.0.0.0

by paulscottrobson
First published on 19th August, 2015

Use the Autonomous Vehicles (e.g. robots) to mine the earth and make as much money as possible. (That's what AVMICO stands for). A sort of combination of Railroad Tycoon, Lemmings and a Mining game. (Underground Jam Project).

It is not obvious how to play so I wrote some instructions at http://www.studio2.org.uk/c2/howtoplayavmico.pdf

Forgot to mention you can make a wagon return by clicking on it (well ran out of space). The difficulty level just affects the money you get for mining stuff.

    Very cool, pretty solid game,
But what does the layer do? I've seen it seems to lay...something, tracks? Doesn't seem to hold a purpose, though.
Often the map generations gives me areas that end up being impossible to access, like an unminable stone overhang means I cant get underneath it, because the carts only go towareds the nearest side of the map
    Given it's a beta, 4/5

Sorry about that. I ran out of space in the instructions. The layer lays tracks (as you say) which allow trucks to travel 4x faster - the idea is that you can move your 'central working area' and speed travel backwards/forwards.

There probably are inaccessible areas. The exploder avoids some of them, as it has two modes - if you explode in a horizontal tunnel it "mines it out", if you explode it in a vertical one it "drills down" and that will go through anything except the granite (edge of the mine).

It might be an idea to have the exploder removing stone as well, maybe ?

The collector doesn't seem to collect things. I really want to like this game, but I can't seem to get it to work.

    Incomplete instructions, my bad :)

The collector picks up coal - the miners leave lumps of coal on the ground, and the collectors pick them up. However, the gold/silver/diamonds can be picked up by the miners (because they are much smaller).

    To do a 'mine'.

Select a start point where going sideways leads to coal - put the marker there, select a miner (with the picaxe) and start it. It should drill until it hits rocks, leaving coal on the ground and picking up any goodies.

Put the marker to the square nearest to the middle of where you start collecting, send the collector there

Although this isn't really my type of game; I can appreciate the game-mechanics since they were probably tough to implement. Good job.
