Improvements with Construct 2 in Education

by Tom | 13th, May 2014

Since starting the Construct 2 Educational subscriptions educational institutes from all over the world have been benefiting from installing the full featured version of Construct 2 on all on-site computers at a heavily discounted rate. We want to get Construct 2 into as many schools as possible and are doing everything we can to make this happen!

We're excited to announce a few changes to the Construct 2 Educational subscriptions. We've listened to feedback from educators from all over the world and are pleased to announce the following improvements:

Take Home Licenses

For as little as $1.42 USD per month* you can also order a "Take Home License". (That comes out to around 5¢ a day!) Take home licenses allow a student or educator to take and use a fully featured version of Construct 2 off-site. Take home licenses must be ordered in conjunction with an educational site license.

* Equivalent monthly cost based on USD pricing on yearly subscription. Minimum order of 5 units.

Euro, USD and GBP Billing

You can now be charged for educational site licenses and take home licenses in USD, Euros or GBP.

Who can order Educational Subscriptions?

Anyone who is affiliated with a State Recognised Educational Institute can order a site wide license and take home licenses. This includes the schools themselves, buyers for schools, teachers and even students.

If you run an educational program that is not state recognised (for example private classes) you must email education@scirra.com with a description of your intended use. We will then consider granting you permission to use our educational subscriptions.

Great news! I am sure many other Institutes around the world would benefit of this feature if someday Construct 2 gets translated into other languages! =) Keep up the good work!

This is great news. I will actively be promoting C2 to the teachers in my circle of influence.

After having just posted about promoting C2 at school, I was considering how I could teach a C2 class at my wife's school. Then I realized that the school along with great number of other schools have transition from PC desktop/laptops, to IPads, and are now moving onto Chrome books as their primary computing system of choice. My wife's school installed a PC lab several years ago which means it is possibly an XP lab and now useless. Chromebooks are replacing PC desk/laptop and very expensive IPads which have limited productivity and short life span. Now I am not sure how I would go about developing a class for C2. Will Windows VM serves be the future of development projects at schools. Just a thought.

This is not related to me, but I can at least input that many and many schools go over to ipads and/or apple computers as I know people working at schools.

But this is good for those who have new computers with at least windows 7.
