Launching Construct 2 licenses and r51

by Ashley | 22nd, August 2011

Welcome to the new blue site! We've got a lot new for you today.

First of all, early adopter licenses are now on sale! Get 'em while they're cheap - the standard license is 50% off, only £19 / €23 / $32 via Paypal. (We're working on some alternative payment options in case Paypal doesn't work in your country.) There's also lots of sprites, music, sound effects and ambience thrown in to the bargain. We're also launching the Construct 2 Free Edition. To find out how it all works, see How Construct 2 licenses work.

There's also the newly released Construct 2 r51. It has nearly 30 bug fixes, and lots new to try out. One of my favourites is the new System 'Wait' action. Here's a tutorial on how to use it. Note your licenses will only work with r51.

We've also rewritten several parts of the site. Have a browse and see what we've done!

Construct 2 can already make exciting 2D games. Try the new Space Blaster demo. You can also download the Construct 2 project to see how it was done. Remember: it was done with no programming, and no Flash!

We hope these developments are exciting. We're always listening so as always let us know what you think!

Oh thats awesome! I've waited for this for so long. Going to try the free version first though, as soon as I get the hang of it, I'll probably get the commercial one, although that may take a while =P. Scirra rocks!

Do you guys no how the Early Adopter is going to be up because I really want to support this and get the standard version but Paypal is taking its on sweet time for transfering funds to my account so I can't get it at the moment (this second I mean). Please tell me it will be there until the end of the week? (Hopefully Paypal/Bank gets their **** together by then).

Hi Zakki! Don't worry, it's going to be available for the forseeable future.

For how long a license lasts? 2 years? I'll probably buy the bussines licence in the future, will I lose something if I buy standart now and than upgrade to business later? Would it be better to buy bussines now as it's still on early adopter price?

Hi Noga!

The license is for Construct 2, it's valid forever. When Construct 3 comes out in the future you will need a new license but that's probably at least a couple of years off into the future!

We will add an upgrade license soon which is the difference between the price of standard and business. So if you buy a standard now you will not lose out if you want a business one later. I can't tell you when these are going to be ready but they are planned.

I would say (in my wholly biased opinion!) that the early adopter licenses offers a good discount on the estimated final price :)
