Just in time for the end of the year, this stable update adds lots of new features since r108.2. As always, it's worth going through the full changelog if you want a complete overview of everything that has been done, but in summary the changes are:

  • r109 (11 changes): new Start dialog, new Function object
  • r110 (18 changes): new Containers feature, experimental SCML import
  • r111 (11 changes): export to Windows Phone 8 and Firefox Marketplace
  • r112 (11 changes): stability improvements and bug fixes
  • r113 (14 changes): access touch IDs in the Touch object; more bug fixes and optimisations

As ever there have been a large number of bug fixes since the last stable release, so we encourage all users to upgrade.

If you'd like to get up to speed with the new features, the manual has now been updated to cover all the new features since r108.2, and a couple of new tutorials have been written too. Check the links in the changelog below to see the new documentation.

Happy holidays!

While it's amazing that you guys update the program on at least a weekly basis, I think you should slow it down a little. I can't keep up with it. The website forces us to keep up to date with the latest beta to upload to the Arcarde, but when I do, sometimes it breaks my game and I have to spend about 2 hours fixing it. Plus, who is actually paying that much attention to be able to incorporate the new additions immediately, much less read each one of them in a long list of changes.

I propose a couple of options...

You could release the beta updates less often. This is probably not the best one because I know people like to stay on top of it and too many changes in one install might not work for most people.

The other option, which is probably the better one, make beta updates optional for the Scirra Arcade, and make stable updates required. This won't break anyone's game.

And when I do install the stable, I will deal with all the breaks at once, instead of every week dealing with a new problem.

Thanks.
