This beta has taken a little longer than usual to release since we were out of the office for the winter holidays. Thank you for your patience!

New this build: a new open in external editor option in the image editor. The path to the external editor can be set in Preferences under the 'Misc' tab. You can set this to another image editing tool like Photoshop, Paint.NET or something else. Then you can use the new image editor button to launch this editor to edit the current image instead. This should hopefully alleviate the fact the image editor only has some fairly basic editing features, and is unlikely to reach the same level as tools like Photoshop anyway.

There's also a fairly big batch of bug fixes in this release, so hopefully it will clear up a number of issues. As ever please test carefully and hopefully if everything is working smoothly we can have another stable build out soon.

Changelog

Add

Image editor: option to open the image for editing in an external image editor.

Add

Setting project 'Downscaling' to 'High quality' now warns about memory use and prompts to review the manual entry for it, since using it unnecessarily can use significantly more memory.

Add

System condition 'Is value type': check if a value is a number or a string.

Add

Function: new 'Call expression' action. This can be used to call a function via an expression, typically with Function.Call("myfunc", ...), which is sometimes a more convenient way to enter parameters.

Change

User Media: some changes to stay up to date with the latest spec

Change

Node-webkit export: now also exports d3dcompiler_46.dll if it exists (new as of node-webkit 0.11.5)

Bug Fix

Previewing with the Crosswalk Player should work again (was broken in r192)

Bug Fix

Importing a new Tiled Background image could accidentally give it a guessed collision poly

Bug Fix

Possible 'Incorrect function' Javascript error using fullscreen mode in IE11

Bug Fix

Requesting fullscreen mode should now work in node-webkit debug mode

Bug Fix

Workaround to 'Internal compiler error' bug in IE11 using Overlay effect

Bug Fix

Dragging/copying event groups should now properly preserve the expanded state of events in the group

Bug Fix

Event sheet view: saving the project with an active event search would expand all events

Bug Fix

Sprite Font: could disappear if rotated near edge of viewport

Bug Fix

Editor should be better at remembering the selected theme's tab style after restarting

Bug Fix

Collision testing and rendering could be misaligned on rotated parallaxed layers

Bug Fix

'Spawn an object' could work incorrectly after loading a savegame
