Construct 2 Release r255

Download

62.9 mb, Windows 8/Windows 7/Vista/XP

Wednesday, March 07, 2018

This is a stable update to incorporate fixes from r253 and r254. As noted previously, we are only maintaining Construct 2 with bug fixes at this point. New features will only be added to Construct 3. Consequently we are adjusting the release cycle of Construct 2 to make sure fixes reach the stable channel in a timely fashion. Previously we would have around 6 beta releases between stable releases, but we now feel a better approach is to have 1-2 bug fixing beta releases followed by a stable release to make those fixes available to everyone. One benefit of this approach is we will probably actually end up having more frequent stable releases than we had last year, albeit with smaller changes.

Since r252 the main improvements are in two areas. The first is the Physics behavior, including a fix for a memory leak in long-running games, and improving the handling of Physics objects that change size. The second is the Video plugin, which now works better in iOS apps, and has better handling of autoplay, including the ability to automatically autoplay without user input in Cordova apps.

The new Addon Exchange

We recently launched a new Addon Exchange - a central place to find and submit third-party addons for Construct 2 and Construct 3. If you're looking for addons, take a look at the Construct 2 section of the Addon Exchange. If you're an addon developer, it's a great place to share your addons with users.

A note about Cordova exports

Last year there were some changes around how mobile exports work. We still regularly see questions about this, so to reiterate, in 2018 these are our recommended options for publishing Cordova apps from C2:

  1. Use C3's mobile app build service to build C2 exports.
  2. Use a third-party build service like PhoneGap Build.
  3. Use the Cordova CLI. This is a free manual build tool that works offline. (This option is more appropriate for advanced users.)

I've always wondered why you have an optimal torrent download? Is it faster to torrent than download from the site?

Well there goes another software that I paid for and now there won't be any new addons or updates and all the extra games that I paid for and soon this will be no more good. Now you have to pay monthly for this product. Wow!! I guess thats what you get everyone just wants more and more and more money and guess 2 will be dead soon too. Its a sad day!!!

Is says: At this point. I don't read anything about Scirra discontinuing C2.

my game relied on a glitch that was prominent in this patch, I got this update while working on it and now the game is completely broken. I tried going into an older version of construct but now that ive opened it in the latest version I cant do that. I know you probably wont but I would largely appreciate if the "fixing" physics was changed back. I had been working on it for about 4 years now and all of it is gone :(. it doesnt even really fix it, it largely reduces possibilities of physics for me. if you guys at scirra would consider changing the physics changes back, I would be very greatful. 4 years of work would too.
