The main reason for this beta release is to adjust the Audio and Video plugins to work better with the new autoplay restrictions in Chrome 66 (due out this week). Browsers are tightening the restrictions and we have updated our code to comply with them. You may find media cannot autoplay in a browser window until you interact with it, which can also affect previews. This is part of the new restrictions - simply click, touch or press a keyboard key and playback should begin.

There are also a couple of new NW.js features which should help with opening included project files. Note these features are not yet in C3, but will be added in the next beta, so if you use them you'll temporarily be unable to import the projects to C3 until the next beta. Finally as ever there's a few more bug fixes. All being well, we hope to make a stable release in the next week or two.

Changelog

Add

NW.js plugin: ProjectFilesFolder and ProjectFilesFolderURL expressions (the folder index.html is in)

Add

NW.js plugin: 'Shell open' action (open a file with the OS default app)

Change

Audio & Video: update to handle new audio autoplay restrictions in Chrome 66

Bug Fix

Video: possible JavaScript error after destroying

Bug Fix

Xbox Live: leaderboard sort orders were inconsistent

Bug Fix

Platform: collisions did not always trigger close to viewport borders

I just tested this new version and it is causing a lot of bugs to my project. It creates events and actions that I never set up in game (such as collisions and destroy colliding objects, and this was not written on the Event sheet).

I'm facing the same issues, a lot of bugs (almost the same as NeoBiel posted) with collisions that simply didn't work anymore. And it was working tottaly fine in the previous versions. Sorry to say that...

@NeoBiel - it would be extremely weird if Construct created any events or actions for you! Can you explain exactly what is happening? It would be best to file any issues to the Bugs forum following all the guidelines.

Um, is Windows 10 not a recommended os anymore?

I'm having some problems with just running it now! I understand because it is the beta that naturally there may be some problems but when I load it from Steam it doesn't bring the start page up like it used to and when I load it manually it crashes C2 completely.

Any suggestions?

Hi. I don't have time to do a proper bug report at the moment but i thought i'd quickly drop a note that ive found 2 issues that didn't exist in my last saved build:

1. I'm getting an error in Chrome, Firefox, and NW.js regarding the flash behavior: Cannot set property 'ontime' of undefined [Hyperlink removed - users with less than 500 rep cannot post links] line 169 (col 15)

2.My player object is destroying any solid object it comes into contact with regardless whether i've told it to or not. I tried inserting a new sprite with only the solid property and no events associated with it at all and when the player object comes into contact with it, its destroying it.

I'll file a proper bug report tomorrow but I have to run.

Ashley,

I have a working software, which is already published on Google Play for about two years. Everything works perfectly. The problem is something related to collisions, that are not working as it is supposed to. Just to give you an example, my game is a soccer game. The soccer field has borders, and the ball hits on the borders and in others obstacles like the soccer players. But now when the ball collides with any of this objects, it don't hit them or change direction as used to happen. The ball just vanish. And the goal function is called! It is very weird...there is no logic on this, but this is what is happening. And i can assure you that the latest version has nothing of this problems at all.

I confirm, the update is fine on stable, on beta, however, something about the physics behavior gives me an error when opening the game. If I launch it in editor, I get weird behaviors.
Reverted the version down to the latest stable and it is working.

Bugou general here. Nothing is working, we need an emergency update, and every update is tested because it is a lack of consideration with customers. Remembering that I say this because many live in Construct 2.
