New this build: hotspots! You can now change the point objects pivot around by placing the red marker in the animation editor for sprites. You can set different hotspots in different frames.

There's also some handy text expressions like tokencount and tokenat. On top of that, the usual slew of bug fixes, and some more performance improvements. Space Blaster on the site has been updated again to use the new faster runtime, but the difference is probably more subtle this time around.

Sprite: hotspots. Can assign a hotspot to each animation frame. Defaults to centred. Can use the tool in the picture editor to assign it, or num pad to quickly place on a corner/side/middle.

About screen: 'Load license file' button. If you are still having problems getting Construct 2 to load your license file, click the link, browse to your license file, and pick it. Restart Construct 2 to start using the license file. This also gives other users the option to store the license file wherever you like.

System: text manipulation expressions find, replace, left, mid, right, tokenat, tokencount, trim.

System: LayoutWidth and LayoutHeight expressions

System: 'pick random' condition

System: 'pi' expression

Layout view: 'edit event sheet' to right-click menu

Removed 'maximize', 'minimize' and 'restore' commands from system menus of all animation editor windows.

Bug Fix

Fixed a possible cause of the 'ghost process' (Construct2.exe left in task manager after closing) bug - hopefully this won't still be an issue but keep an eye out and let me know if it is.

Bug Fix

Tiled Background: several ACEs were broken

Bug Fix

Events with a 'Trigger once' should re-run if the layout is restarted

Bug Fix

Picture editor: zooming keeps the view centred rather than scaling from the top left point

Bug Fix

Object bar: Deleting an object folder no longer resets the filter-by-layout setting

Bug Fix

Audio object: fixed error in 'set volume' on Firefox 3.6 (although I'd recommend anyone on 3.6 upgrades their browser!)

Bug Fix

Import sprite sheet: crash if you entered really large values for horizontal/vertical cells

Bug Fix

Layer bar: clicking the index on the right would toggle the lock state

Bug Fix

Animations: individual frame durations were not saved and reset to 1 when loading the project

Bug Fix

Animation preview: was not always up to date with the currently edited image

Bug Fix

Configurations bar: could crash deleting a configuration

In the javascript engine, entire object instances are now recycled. This should further reduce garbage collection overhead and related pauses, further improving performance.

Performance improvements to the event engine, especially with tight loops (like Repeat N times) which now perform nearly twice as fast in Firefox 6! There are smaller gains in other browsers.

onDestroy method added to instances. You must drop any references to other objects in the runtime in this method, because the object may be recycled and continue to exist as a javascript object.

Awesome, now that hot spots are in I can start using it for stuff!

Some requests:

Could you implement alt clicking to place the hot spot on all frames of the animation, and alt cropping to crop all frames in the animation like in construct classic?

And also could you make it so the arrow keys move the hotspot one pixel in that direction instead?

I use those a lot.

I made a simple webview application for the iPhone and I've been testing simple rotation/position and text modifications. I've noticed some improvements in this version! GOOD STUFF!
