I had a week off! Chilled out a bit and took some time to relax, and now I'm back. Having a super fast new PC helps :)

Anyways, this build has some new features and usability changes (like the new keyboard shortcuts) which hopefully satisfies those of you who requested them!

Don't forget we've got a new 'How do I...?' forum. If you've got some questions about using Construct 2, I'm sure someone there can help you out!

Changelog

Add

Z ordering at runtime: move to top, move to bottom, move to layer actions; get layer name, get layer number, get z index expressions

Add

System: set, get, compare layer opacity

Add

Picture editor: 'C' to center hotspot (alternate shortcut for keyboards without num pad)

Add

Browser: open URL in new window

Add

Keyboard shortcuts: Ctrl+E in a layout goes to its associated event sheet, and Ctrl+L in an event sheet goes to the first layout that uses it, if any.

Change

Picture editor: crosshair cursor when placing hotspot

Change

Layout view: when zooming in, now uses a point filter rather than a blurry linear filter. This should make positioning pixel graphics easier.

Change

Layout view: view -> zoom in/out now change the zoom by a factor of 2 (50%, 100%, 200%...). Hold shift to get the old 10% increments. Holding ctrl+shift and scrolling the mouse wheel also zooms by a factor of 2. This should make it easier to get an even zoom level for pixel games.

Bug Fix

Platform movement: now lands on the ground to the nearest pixel. Should avoid the 1px "float" bug, but watch out for how you set hotspots, positions and sizes, since you can still make a floor object have its edge at a fractional pixel value, and in that case the platform movement will "float" (be positioned to the nearest pixel) by design.

Bug Fix

Behaviors colliding with a solid (e.g. 8 Direction, Platform) now trigger an 'on collision' event for the object they touched. Previously this event was not fired when a behavior caused the collision.

Bug Fix

Platform: now properly supports setting a negative (upwards) gravity

I'm working on "ball" behavior on my spare time. I can release a half-broken beta on monday if you really really need it.
