We've been making some changes to the site to make sure it's clearer whether you're using beta or stable releases. For an overview see the release history. Links on the site will always point to the last stable release only unless you specifically choose to download a beta release, which we will announce on Facebook, Twitter and Google+ as always, or if you set beta update checking in Construct 2. As a reminder, beta releases have the latest features and bug fixes but are also more likely to introduce new problems. We appreciate people helping to test the latest beta releases, but if you'd rather avoid new problems then please stick to stable releases only. The last stable release was r80.2.

This release introduces a new icon set for plugins, behaviors and the editor, designed by Paulo Ricardo Reinehr.

The editor icons are monochrome to make sure the focus is on the content you are designing. The rest of the icons are themed to help you identify different parts of the project at a glance: project elements (like layouts and event sheets) are green, behaviors are a warm orange, and plugins are a cool blue. We hope this helps ensure using Construct 2 is a nice experience even during long sessions.



New editor, plugin and behavior icons


Text: wrapping property: 'word' (wrap on spaces, the default) or 'character' (wrap on any character). Character wrapping is useful for languages which do not use Western style spacing, like Chinese.


Title bar now says 'Construct 2 beta release' for beta updates like this one. The title bar will simply say 'Construct 2' for future stable releases.


Breaking change: the 'Is visible' condition used to also check the object's layer is visible. This has now been reverted to only check the object's own visibility flag, so a visible object on an invisible layer now returns true for 'Is visible' instead of false. To make it work like it used to, add another 'Is layer Object.LayerNumber visible' condition to the event. This allows for testing all combinations of visibility, whereas before it was impossible to test for an object's visibility independently of its layer visibility.


Project 'Clear background' property now defaults to 'No'. Almost all projects have at least one opaque layer on them, and the option is only useful when all layers are transparent, and defaulting to 'No' should be a little faster.

May I suggest to also make the sprite's collision box default to "Bounding Box"?

Good idea to mark the beta releases more clearly. Though I think most of us will download every new version anyway, beta or stable release! :) If it's new, then we gotta have it!

I wouldn't really want this. I use mostly pngs with collision polygons. But how about eventually letting us set our own defaults for all new objects? This is pretty low priority since I'd rather have more in game features. Love the new icons

@kataryna: you have to install again the custom plugins that you had previously installed, they are automaticly uninstalled with the former version.
