2.5D manipulation of interactive objects

Discussion and feedback on Construct 2

Post » Sun Dec 29, 2013 6:12 am

I'm really confused from searching through the archives on whether this engine can support loading 3d objects like Obj's or not. If it's possible I'd like to load a singular 3d object in a scene that is traditional 2d but would be able to interact with that one object. For example: there is a 2D background of a desk. On that desk is a 3d spin-able world globe obj. When you click and drag the globe obj will spin.

Is this type of scenario possible in C2? And if so how would I go about implementing it? Are there any good plugins for this? Would I need to JavaScript code such an interaction in myself? Could I even do so in the first place?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

@jesblood I don't think this is possible. You can only do pseudo 3D. What you can do is to have an animation of the globe and change the displayed frame according to input.

For the scenario the OP wants. Yes it's doable and relativly easy'ish.

Do a forum search for Joe7 3D plugin. he made a simple 3d plugin. I'm not sure I would use it for an entire 2.5D game. But for a few 3D objects in a 2D mostly game. Sure no probs.

As for producing a 2.5D game. C2 isn't quite there as of yet. That's the way I feel. But in a few months who knows.
