  • There is copy and paste but no cut, I can't be the only person who uses cut, please make CTRL-X cut for events etc, and also CTRL-Y should redo.

also, instead of having to click on an event or action, go back twice, change the object, pick the action/event again and click next twice:

this would make it slightly more intuitive and would speed things up

  • could also do with CTRL-A for select all in animation editor

  • You can delete or cut with delete key on the keyboard (or do you want it to be closer?)

You can set redo to Ctrl+Y through custom keys.

"Should be able to double click on first item in event." AGREED!

"Ctrl+A" AGREED! Pretty standard stuff for any windows open. But Ctrl+A seems to be only tied to the layout only for now. You can get around this by holding shift and click the first animation then the last.

  • nice, didnt realise custom keys existed, however, cut only works on the layout editor not events, and in fact it is greyed out on the ribbon.

lol damnit I do want my delete key closer, I think the main reason why I love cut so much is that I get paranoid that copying hasnt worked because it doesnt show you anything, whereas when you cut you see the thing dissapear and you are save in the knowlege you can paste it. That and you dont have to reach a million miles away to press an extra useless key.

I just think it should be as streamlined as possible, and since cut is usually on ctrl x (and usually works ) it is intuitive to me that it would be there.

  • Since there now is a topic about small fixes that will increase the speed i have some suggestions too.

-Pressing enter in the action window should not only work for "next" but also for "finnish".

-Insert new condition, Insert sub-event, invert condition, insert event, insert comment, insert group, and include event sheet should be replaced by; Condition, Sub-event, Invert, Event, Comment, Group and Event sheet. Right now it's very hard for example to separate Insert condition from Invert condition, and it takes longer time to find what you're looking for since you automaticaly read the word "insert" five times each time you're looking through the list of things to do.

-When you're writing an expression and going to write for example player.value('mana') the word "mana" popps up as a suggestion. If you press enter only the word mana is added, not the last ') .

(warning, not really sure about this. could be stupid idea.)

-If you move something to a layer, that layer should automatically be selected. When you're moving something to another layer it is usually (for me at least) because you realized you where working on the wrong layer. Also, if you create an object and the selected layer is invisible, it should be turned visible, or you shouldn't be able to create objects on invisible layers.

I don't think that is really a stupid idea.

Talking of moving things to other layers I think there should be an option of move to layer when you right click on an object in the layout editor as I always look for it there for some reason

I know what you mean about getting invert and insert mixed up, though it wouldn't be that descriptive removing the other words, may be a problem for new users, maybe this could be an option or something?

This is still the thing for me that slows making games down the most, it takes so long to change the affected object (circled in red) if

    1) you have loads of objects,

    2) you have to do it for a lot of events (which you've just copied and pasted or something)

also if you have loads of objects it even takes ages to change the object circled in blue.

I think it should be possible to drag these objects onto eachother, copying it

    <img src="http://www.quotecats.com/what/dragdropconst.PNG">

PLEASE do something about this, it would speed things up so so much.

(this is also the only reason why MMF's event editor is faster than construct's)

  • These are really good suggestions. I hope we can see them before 1.0

  • Try Construct 3

  • These are all good ideas, but this one is the one I need most:

-Pressing enter in the action window should not only work for "next" but also for "finnish".

I still hit Enter all the time expecting it to finish out the window .

-Insert new condition, Insert sub-event, invert condition, insert event, insert comment, insert group, and include event sheet should be replaced by; Condition, Sub-event, Invert, Event, Comment, Group and Event sheet.

Yep, quick-scanning the dropdown is pretty annoying because it's all

    In...

    In...

    In...

    In...

    In...

    In...

Takes like a matter of milliseconds extra, but that's a huge gap mentally where's you're just thinking to yourself "dammit this is slow. Why does everything start with 'in' " So it's not really all that much slower, it just seems that way if you get my drift, which is just as important.

You're right, but I'm not sure what can be done about it.. the inserts are all necessary .
