advanced games using construct

Discussion and feedback on Construct 2

I am looking for construct2 games that are basically platformers on arcade or elsewhere that are reasonably advanced. I am looking to see good examples of what construct can accomplish. Examples beyond the simplisic demos easily found here. Just trying to get a feel if construct will handle the game we are designing. So links to complex games namely platformers?

Just curious if any on knows of some great examples even if they are works in progress

I suppose you could possibly consider mine 'advanced'...

Off the top of my head, there is of course the fantastic Mag. Unfinished but a great example of classic platforming that can be achieved.sqiddster2012-03-07 01:48:43

That was ~3 months ago too..you can now swim and other things and there are a few switch-block puzzles and stuff.

This isn't the best way to evaluate software. If you were to look at what has been accomplished by inexperienced, independent, one person game developers (the typical "game maker" community member) with powerful libraries like SDL, SFML, and Allegro - you would be completely underwhelmed. Unless you have very specific needs which you should ask about here, C2 is powerful enough. Graphics are just decoration, they have no bearing on the abilities of the underlying engine.

Also, Game Maker has 10 years on C2 so of course you'll find many more complex games there. Does that mean it's better?


On a side note: I really wish Game Maker didn't own the name Game Maker. It makes it really hard to talk about game maker software in general.

I'd have to agree with Trevor. What HAS been achieved is not at all congruent with what CAN be achieved.
The only real limit at the moment is not the software. The software is amazing. The real limit is terrible browser technology and incongruousness.

I would consider Bumper's Quest and Airscape great examples. Just as good as any mainstream engine. I am currently developing a different kind of platformer, one that blends elements from both puzzle platformers and point & click games.

The development has been smooth and the potential of the software is quite limitless. Here are a few stills from the game, and you can play an early buildHERE
