Android Chrome's loss of sound

Bugs will be moved here once resolved.

Problem Description
Sound is still lost under these circumstances:
Image

When device goes to sleep and the looping audio was active it's alright.
But if there was no audio at the moment the device was left inactive - audio is lost (and somehow one of my games becomes buggy and unplayable)

My workaround: Play inaudible sound every 1sec all the time. It fixes the problem (even the latter buggyness..:) )

Thanks. I also noticed the "bug" came back :-) guess we will have to have this in as standard :-)

If this doesn't happen in any other browsers, it's a Chrome bug, and probably related to the previous issue which was also a Chrome bug. There's not much point posting those here, best to file a report on the Chromium bug tracker.

@Ashley

You did your successful workaround before. But the only downside was some constant audio burps every some time. (Maybe there was some other probs I am not aware of)

My sound (which I posted the link to it on this topic before) is almost totally inaudible (you would need max audio level with headphones to hear a very very little of it)

So you can use my sound to integrate this workaround again which would not cause any problems.

Thanks and Peace ;)

P.S. Gonna post this bug on Chromium

The last workaround broke compatibility with old browsers, which is typical: ugly hacks to work around bugs often break other things, and they're very hard to test and get right. I think it's better to wait for the browser to be fixed...

Heh I was running into this today when I finally got my game working on Android, sound would randomly cut off after a short play session and no more sounds at all. Music however, plays fine!

It seems to not affect music normally. However, on suspend and resume, there's no audio whatsoever.

Jesus google chromium always manages to reintroduce breaking bugs. /facepalm

I'm going to test playing this sound every second to see if it resolves the issue. But this is impacting Webview & XDK Crosswalk.

I can report that yes, playing a sound every 1 second does indeed fix the issue.
