Any price reductions coming?

• So I've been using Construct for a while now but I'm still on the fence whether I should buy it or not. I enjoy playing around in it but 80 is still quite steep.

My question is, will there be any price reductions in the near future to entice people to take advantage of the lowered price and buy it while they can save some ?

• They bumped up the price a few weeks ago, I was planning on buying but that put a halt to that. They probably wouldn't just tell us, that wouldn't make business sense, but maybe this holiday season we'll get lucky...

• The price is not at all steep, as soon as you have a look at the competition.

• In fact, C2 has great prices.

• I just wanted to agree with what has already been said above. For what you are actually getting for your money, compared to the competition and the outstanding quality and support that Scirra provide, you really cannot get a better product for your money.

I would also like to add that Scirra have always been really fair with announcing when they are going to increase their prices to give potential buyers a chance to get a good deal which is something that most other companies would not do.

At the end of the day I`m sure that they have reduced their prices as much as they possibly can for the end user but they also need to make a living, it`s really a lot of work to make something as great as C2.

I`m just really thankful that C2 exists and that Ashley and Tom are such great guys.

• Price point is perfect :) Worth every cent!

• They'll probably be a Christmas sale of some sort.

This is not Steam you know?

I think this tool is great. Being an avid user for 4 years (anniversary was yesterday!) I can't recommend it enough, no matter the cost.

As for price reduction, I'd say it's more likely to happen once a great feature is released - something that would put Scirra on the spotlights, so it would be interesting for them to drop the price.

• Just to let people know, we have no discounts/sales planned for the future.

However, do keep an eye on our Twitter/Facebook etc as we sometimes run competitions and give away licenses!

• Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
• Thanks for the reply, Tom.

Probably won't get it just yet then.

• Game Maker is $499 for everything that Construct 2 can do and Game Maker is a outdated and somewhat cumbersome environment. I have wasted far more amounts of money on other software development tools. I bought Construct 2 and it is worth every penny if not more.

• I wouldnt wait too much longer if you are interested Vitae

If anything its only going to get more expensive (as more features get added). I dont think we'll be seeing C2 in the bargain bin any time soon.

• I'm sure you all despise me by now But know I only play devil's advocate because I care. I have better things to do then criticize products I'm not interested in. Now that that's been said....

These features are optional, but the cheapest option is $50, much cheaper than C2. This also has the ability to support exe. However mobile on construct 2 is currently fairly incapable. You do have to pay to catch up to C2's exports so if you're uninterested in exe and mobile that's good. Gamemaker also has a much bigger community, but you don't get such direct access to the devs so tie there. The gm environment seems pretty streamlined to me, the argument could be made either way, after reviewing I see it hasn't changed all too much. What makes you think it's outdated?

Unity provides fully functional support for all platforms, for free. If your interested in mobile, 200$ with game maker or gideros or something for functionality over $120 for a currently crippled system is much better.

No it's not, but neither is the competition particularly.

Agreed.

You have the option to export to an EXE in C2 now as well.

You get that for free, no add-on required.

• Hi Draspur, despite your points, all of which are valid, I still stand by my view that C2 is the best all in one `2D` solution for your money.

I have tried each of the tools that you have mentioned over the years and despite each having their own individual strengths none of them allow me to create a 2D game with the ease and finesse as C2.
