Any success with greenworks (steamworks plugin)?

Discussion and feedback on Construct 2

Hi, do anyone have any experience with this plugin?
It suppose to help any html5 game make with node-webkit to be able to use steam achievements and overlay which is very nice thing to have, in my opinion.

I only know that the developers of this code use it for their node-webkit game "Game Developer Tycoon" to integrate with steam.

It's there any chance Construct 2 have plans to develop a similar plugin for steam in the near future? Especially since the market of indie games in steam is quite huge.

Just asking.

I'm probably not the best person to ask regarding this, but I don't quite think it's possible at this time.

It looks to me like the primary method of the different platform plugins (Facebook, CocoonJS) are either based on PHP or Javascript (Facebook for example) or is built into the wrapper (CocoonJS)

The Greenworks plugin you linked is written in C++ which I'm pretty sure isn't compatible with C2. Steam would need to implement an HTML5 wrapper or allow the sending of PHP to their server for certain features.

Now with that said, it might be possible to implement Greenworks if you were to manually build your Node-Webkit app like seen here, but I don't know how you'd have your game communicate with it for things such as achievements.

Again, maybe it is possible and I don't know what I'm talking about. Just assuming based on what I've seen so far.

The developers of Game Dev Tycoon and this plugin posted about it in here, but I can't remember what thread it was. You can probably find it by using search, though..

This thread had some links in it about Steam.

I really hope Steam gets fully supported at some point. It seems like a perfect fit for the type of games made with C2. I mean, if you're going to make a game with PC in mind, you might as well get it on Steam, especially with the growing popularity of Steam and its upcoming consoles.DrewMelton2014-01-05 22:16:46
