Any way to disable collisions yet still check for Overlap?

Get help using Construct 2

This has been causing issues for me. I need something to ignore all aspects of collisions, but I need it to also track if it's being overlapped with another object.

As far as I know disabling Collisions means disabling Overlapping checks.

Any help, suggestions, or workarounds?

You could always -

1) Measure the distance between two objects.
2) Check overlap with a pinned sprite.
3) Compare position of two objects.

You could also add an additional condition to every of your events checking for collision, to make sure collision checks occur only when, for example, a boolean variable named "Collisions" is true. And you switch that variable to false instead of disabling collisions.

Why is it giving you trouble? I'd think that anything you do yourself to implement overlapping checks would be inferior to what C2 does internally.
