  • Hi All,

Been looking around but think I may be out of luck, been using Construct 2 for a couple of years and love it do death however am wanting to also create standalone mobile applications "Not Games" and am looking for something like construct 2 that does it but I am having no luck.

is anyone aware if there is anything like Construct out there for mobile application development?

    Thanks

2 years and first post Anyway good luck with the search. A few things came up when I Googled "easy android app development".

  • depending of what you need, you can also develop productivity apps using C2

  • Non- game apps are hardly created from any form of "drag and drop app creator", as most of the time it don't have any specific algorithms or features that suited to your project. Try to learn programming for yourself instead, it's not quite hard actually.

  • It'd be easier if you had some examples of what type of app(s) you want to make.

If you want to access fx. the mobile phone's camera, bluetooth, contacts, calendar entries, photo album etc. - then you probably need the developer's SDK, and to program it all in fx. Objective C for iOS.

But if you want something lighter, say, a small calculator, an app for displaying non-dynamic content etc., then Construct 2 could actually do the job for you.

Thanks for your response, well that's not true as there are a lot of creators out there for other systems that use an Event System - similar concept to Construct 2 where you build your page and based on event to X. Yes learning to code is always the best however when looking at creating for multiple devices its not something i have the time to do - stuff like apple apps where you require an apple PC and pay a lic cost is not worth it but again thanks for your feedback

Basically what i want to do construct nearly handles, i need to use HTTP get with Auth for a service I need to call then add in some additional events to manipulate the data - for form and actions construct does that all except for this one task

Thanks for this, looks great and something to start with

  • I am a web developer by trade, and C2 is so easy to use that almost wish there was a Web IDE of similar capacity that could be taken seriously.

C2's interface is very slick, beyond many IDEs. I find it more intuitive than even something like eclipse, and it pushes your productivity through the roof because there's almost never a need to go digging through an API. Just a lovely experience.

Edit: Not that I don't intend on redoing my personal web site in C2. Hooking into a blog database on the back end shouldn't be too hard

  • I recommend xojo app maker software, it uses Xojo language, it might be new to most people but this language is a very easy to learn language. It has lots of examples and manual/guide to learn from. It can make apps for desktop, web, etc... Try it if you want: http://www.xojo.com/index_xojo.php

  • My best bet would be Eclipse with the SDK plugin and language of your choice (perhaps Java).
