I am a web developer by trade, and C2 is so easy to use that almost wish there was a Web IDE of similar capacity that could be taken seriously.

C2's interface is very slick, beyond many IDEs. I find it more intuitive than even something like eclipse, and it pushes your productivity through the roof because there's almost never a need to go digging through an API. Just a lovely experience.

Edit: Not that I don't intend on redoing my personal web site in C2. Hooking into a blog database on the back end shouldn't be too hard :)

I recommend xojo app maker software, it uses Xojo language, it might be new to most people but this language is a very easy to learn language. It has lots of examples and manual/guide to learn from. It can make apps for desktop, web, etc... Try it if you want: http://www.xojo.com/index_xojo.php

My best bet would be Eclipse with the SDK plugin and language of your choice (perhaps Java).

Stick with C2 and port Javascript UI frameworks to it. Anything that you would make with a code editing IDE will take you 3x the time and effort.

I'm not sure which of these things Construct 2 won't handle. Construct 2 night be a little clunky for things like lists, but other than that I haven't found any standard front-end stuff it just plain won't do. See https://simbucket.com/chemthinkserver/chemthink/index.html for an example of what you are looking to do. It was all done in C2 on the front end with php on the back end.

C2 isn't always the most elegant tool for this type of work, but if it gets the job done quickly and well, then who cares?
