  • Hello All,

I am looking to create a new, legitimate Indie game company called Fred Software (name can obviously be changed) and I am looking for an artist/graphic designer to join me.

I am half way through the first game for the company, called "Save the Creatures" and it should take me a month, two at the most to finish. (The kind of art I am looking for this game are similar to Cut the Rope and Kingdom Rush.)

There is currently no money in place and there may not be until the first game is released but that can be discussed.

I know that there are probably loads of people trying to do this but if anyone is interested, either message me or reply to this and we will see how it goes.

    Thanks,

  • If you can post a brief demo with stand-in graphics, your design document, and a list of the art assets you'll need done, maybe potential artists will have a better idea whether your project's a good fit for their time, style, and ability.

  • Good Idea, I will get something up asap.

  • You might want to change your approach to recruiting a game artist for just your first game first, and focus on developing a company later. In my experience, I found that working the way you are, as in trying to build a company and then a game, takes away the focus of game creation, and attracts a smaller group of talent. It also feels very amatuerish.

  • I don't see that. I feel it is much more professional to work on the business at the same time as the game so we all know where we stand and there are no problems about money etc once the game is released.

And lets be fair, just because something doesn't work for you doesn't mean it isn't right for someone else, or that it feels amateurish.

  • More info please :)

Yeah I wish more people would focus on the business side of things a little more. It's a bit unsettling to jump on board and do all kinds of work without a contract or anything.

On the flip side, lots of people start websites and "companies" for their games to look professional, but lack of content (like, well, the game) just makes them look even more amateurish, as Rory stated.

Anyway, sorry, I'm no artist, but posting more info and maybe screenshots or a video will help find you one.

  • I'm an artist, been a cartoonist and also do 3d games. I would be interested to see what you have to offer but more details are needed.

I can say as an artist, that the art side takes time and without something that looks concrete and marketable it would be very hard to investigate/invest further when there are so many projects out there looking for talent.

The biggest problem you'll encounter while looking for "help" will be the relationship between you and said artist. This is what is most important, trust to say it bluntly and that takes time.

Regardless, please elaborate as much as possible without giving your idea away also your world location would help. Just my 2 cents. Wish you the best of luck with you company/project hope to hear more about it. <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Try Construct 3

  • You see, my biggest problem is that I am concerned about uploading any actual details about the game in case someone who is much better at using Construct 2 than me makes it faster than I do. I know that it is only a very small amount of people that would do this but I am still concerned.

I will start with a description:

The game is similar in style to lemmings in that there are creatures that need to be saved by placing objects for them to use but I believe is it different enough for it to be considered a different game. There will be 150 levels (25 in 6 areas) that will be small, self contained levels similar to Cut the Rope, Wheres the Water etc.

Ideas are free and worthless. What has value is the implementation of the idea.

  • i humbly disagree, one should be careful to some degree and the idea is explained enough for any interested artists to seek more details privately, just a thought.
