attach an object to an other following a part of the object

Hello, i try to make a thing very difficult for me in construct. I create a rpg and i use animations of wow caracters . For exemple , walk, run, swim, jump ... But i have a problem. This animation take a lot of memory and if my caracter take a sword for exemple, i wouldn't like that i have to re-import all the previous animation with this sword. i would like create an object sword who follow the arm movement of my caracter, it's possible ? Because i have seen the behavior Bone, but i have tryed and i don't understand this fonctionnality.
