C2 implement in the future a .avi reader like C1 or it's impossible with HTML5?

Thank you, bye!

It would have to be a compressed format, otherwise the files would be far too large to download. And if you've read about how messy the situation is in HTML5 audio format support, it's even worse for video. So I don't think video is likely to be supported in C2 soon.

flv might work on all browsers, since youtube does.

.flv = Flash video.
This means the decompression of this format relies on an installed flash plugin.
This does not fit with the purpose of html5 being "no plugins to download, straight from the browser".Kyatric2011-08-08 00:36:37

Take a fresh formated and reinstalled windows seven.
It has HTML5 in Internet Explorer 9.
Flash isn't supposed to be there, and the plugin needs to be downloaded and installed to be effective.

Moreover one of the things that many people (including Scirra's members) expect that HTML5 will get rid of flash. (take over it in the mid to long term)

Making a core/official plugin relying on flash defeats this purpose.Kyatric2011-08-08 06:18:11

The answer was in the quote and on wikipedia.

Html5 audio support is a mess and html5 video support is even worse.
