before more exporters..

• Could we have some of the stuff thats been on the to do list for ever.

Its nice to be able to export to all and sundry but some simple updates to the mechanics wouldnt go amiss either.

In the layout editor.. zoom to mouse, select from z-list, group sprites and numerous other valid requests made over a long time.

I dont need reminding that Scirra is a small team etc, and i know they do have a superb product. Sometimes the little things can make a big difference.

Thanks

• C2 is banging on three years old, I get the feeling there is some justified frustration about the lack of a "killer app" more exporters makes that more possible...

I disagree, i dont think getting more exporters in the mix will brings us closer to better aps. In fact, I think the contrary will result.

Seeing as more and more options and limitations to target platforms need to be kept in mind, and less and less available tutorials on how to decently export material to the new platforms are available.

When I first started with construct 2 ... it was a piece of cake exporting through ludei ....

But that is already giving me some issues now on occassion, relating to changes in construct 2 and ludei.

With crosswalk I'm getting terrible results with all my apps, so stopped using it.

The only options that decently work out of the box for me are the web variants. tbh, kind off of a let down.

I would prefer having a stable base relating to exports.

Meaning if I export something now, it would be nice if it behaved the same if I export it in half a year with the latest version.

Which in my opinion, currently is not the case.

whats happening with construct 2 atm, imo, is too many bells and horns trying to make it look its edging the latest market available tech ... but in reality, it performs poor due to lack of thurough usage and well worked out solutions.

I am getting my hopes up on some of that multiplayer material, but I dread its support and compatability.

• I trust Scirra know what they're doing. I guess the only thing I'm really waiting for besides a decent mobile exporter is the online multiplayer functionality, but I understand or believe that's being researched.

• lennaert You say you disagree? it sounds like you agree...

I did not say more exporters is the right choice, it's just My take on the situation...

The lack of an official Scirra mobile exporter is a major omission from C2 only recently ludei's apparent distancing from C2 support has shown how relying on third parties is highly risky, in the past we had awesomium, another let down, now all hopes are pinned on crosswalk...

• My point wasnt about the exporters specifically. Its the overlooking of other needed features.

• I've been expecting "Export to Arduino" for a while now.

• Sometimes I wish C2 was open source with licensing only for commercial products. Updates are really neat, but depending on a two man team certainly makes me nervous.

• I do agree.

I guess the people here who will use the new WII-U exporter for example are about 1-2%...and i think that is grabbing high.

there are some more things that are way more important than this.

Yes, I think you can remove the %. I agree with everything you said above, we have enought exporters.

Perhaps Scirra could do with a Poll, listing several development options, and have the community's say weigh in on the choice.

Awesomium ? lol sounds terrible, hehe.

*pokes* no gl support though hahahahahah

• They already held a poll a number of months ago.

though a new one would be nice now that about half of them tackled.

I would like to point out that over all I agree that certain aspects of C2 are seriously needed over more exporters. However some exporters would certainly take precedensce. Any major platform such as WiiU,XBoxOne, PS4. Even with a small C2 users getting to use them does lead that these consoles have large dedicated fanbases.

However there are other platforms like Tizen that personally are nice to have, but just aren't really all that a push enough of importance.

Personally for C2 we really need modularity and an IDE repo/store for developers. While I've seen a creep of contenders for "killer apps" coming. Having these two features could seriously push the technology for more and faster. All while building a better foundation.

However these two features are fairly deeply root in the main .exe file. So it's not something that might be coming soon, but it is coming.

• Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
• The 3 items i mentioned are simple additions to the layout editor which would make it better to use. I could probably come up with another half a dozen if i thought about it.

I dont expect Scirra to add everything that gets requested, however i dont recall a clamour for speech recognition either

I hadn't seen that thread yet, but its excellent :)

A new one would be great.

I would love to see some sort of build in media library.

Options to import export certain objects or events sheets, and including such sheets or objects in projects.

Would be great.

• Spongehammer.. I Agree. Thingies like Speech recognition aren't nearly as important as fixes on Construct IDE ..
