Bone Remove

New releases and general discussions.

I think a great feature to introduce to the bone movement would be a REMOVE bone feature. This button could allow you to remove a bone, it would fit nicely along side the ADD bone feature.

Currently there is no way to actually remove a bone, meaning that once you've placed a bone, then your stuck with it for life. Disaster!

What happens if you delete a limb which is attached at runtime?

If I delete the leg (calf) it will disappear and the foot (that was attached to that limb) will just stop when the leg is deleted. But everything else continues normally.

That is what happens!

I guess it may be problematic, if you remove a bone that had loads of other bones attached to it, then they'd all have to die.

It would probably be easier to make your character entitrely out of hinged physics objects, and apply forces via some fancy inverse kinematic solver to make it walk and stuff.... or not O.o

Currently to add a bone you need a pre-existing object.
I'd assume the same to apply backwards, once a bone is deleted the object just stops being a bone. Since the bone behavior is only set at the root, everything below the deleted bone would also stop being a bone. Which could be annoying.

But MORE annoying is having to start over from scratch if you make a mistake adding bones.

Would this be a likely feature later on? I'm wondering if I should just wait, or redo my character/animations.

If your saying at edittime, you can already do that. Left click on the bones root circle thingy(the big one that lets you move the bone) and press delete.
