Building Apps for Amazon and Chrome App Stores with C3

Post » Tue May 09, 2017 11:03 am

Construct 2 has a way to export games to the Amazon and Chrome App stores. Is this ability in Construct 3 now? Both seem like they might be possible soon because Amazon had (and still may have but I can't tell) an HTML5 app program and Chromebook still does.

Has anyone successfully built and exported a game to the Amazon App Store?

Has anyone successfully built and exported a game to the Chromebook App Store?

And for that matter, what about Android? Does Construct 3 export to Android? Has anyone done it? And furthermore is the Intel XDK still working? I hear good things about the new Cocoon export to Android. What about iOS?

I have some projects I want to build in C3. Can I do it for Amazon, Chromebook, Android, and iOS. I'm especially intrigued with the idea I could build on a Chromebook and export to Android, now that Chromebooks run Android apps!!!

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm coming back to Construct 3 and making it my main machine primarily because Construct 3 will run on anything that runs Chrome. I love Chromebooks and want to make that my main machine.

Since the beta is still in the free edition phase, no one tried it yet. You'll have to wait a week or two to get answers to your question. In the meantime Scirra can tell you exactly what platforms will be supported, but I think you can expect what C2 supports.

Wait a week or two? :lol:

I realize that I don't have a ship date for Construct 3 ... the closest I've found is "summer". Oh, wait, summer is a-commin' in, Cookoo! It is mid-May and Summer is ... June?

I want Construct 3 and I've never been patient. I'm more than thrilled to upgrade for a year at half-price, so take my money, Ashley!

My main export desires are (in order):
* Android
* Amazon
* iOS
* Chromebook
* Mac
* Tizen
* Windows
* Ubuntu
* Windows Phone

Currently Construct 3 is in Beta.
It will open up from some of the restrictions (50 events etc) on the 15'th of May to the 21st of May.

THey state " the full release by summer" so one has to figure out which hemisphere they are at ;) Just give a date people. "Releasing this Holiday". "Releasing this Summer"....We are on the internet in a global world. Give us dates! :D

I suspect when that is finished Construct 3 will be available for subscription at $99 a year if you do not own C2 and if I recall correctly at $59 a for the first year if you previously owned C2.

So no regular user has exported to those platforms with Construct 3 yet.
Ashley mentioned that there will be a blog post soon on the NW.JS exporter.
Maybe some news on the other exporters will be contained.

Currently the export options looks like this. Although the Apps bit is not available in the Beta yet.

There will be a build service for iOS and Android according to Scirra.

Does this mean you made a double post?

If so, why not just delete it. That is what the icons ('X' to delete) in the post header are for.

Platforms like BB10, Tizen and Ubuntu Phone are pretty much completely dead by now, as far as I can tell.

The actual usage of export platforms is almost entirely shared between the exporters we already support, and the rest have vanishingly small usage. We'd like to trim dead or unused platforms from C3 where possible. I think we'll bring back the Chrome Web Store exporter because it had slightly less negligible usage and partly because it's pretty simple, but other than that I think it depends on user demand.

Just add a generic html5 export (fullscreen only) without the local file warning.
That will cover most of the extraneous platforms, including Electron.

That would circumvent one of the key reasons we ask people to buy Construct.

Yeah, you should re-examine that one.
A: Nobody said it has to be free.
B. It's easy to bypass anyway.
C. There are a multitude of other uses for the basic export, apps, ads, as well as a replacement for powerpoint, pdf, and flash in general.

Do what you want, It doesn't really matter at this point, the users will make do with what they have to make a living.
Making it easier to use is only a selling point.
