  • This forum is a mess right now because you gave us mainly info on how to pay and what is the payment model without telling us any real features like

    Tom Ashley kytric

    1) How will plugins be installed since Google took away plugin control?

    2) Will C3 have exporters ?

    3) If C3 does not have exporters will the old exporters work?

    4) If Chrome breaks C3 will we be able to run it without Chrome?

    5) Will game performance be faster on all devices or the same ?

    6) Are there any new features besides running on all devices or is that it?

    7) Is this just an editor update or will you have ways to make games even easier?

    8) Will you finally make a publishing channel to help with marketing games or no?

These are just basic questions that should be answered right away so you don't have people arguing left and right here. You caused an even bigger mess with your announcements. I almost feel it would have been beter to say nothing at all. This forum became a warzone aka World War 3 in here because of the lack of information. Your causing people to drink that swore off drinking for 20 years to start back .

  • It's the weekend right now so I think you're putting an unrealistic expectation on Scirra when you demand a reply, but luckily your questions do have answers:

    1) How will plugins be installed since Google took away plugin control?

C3 plugins are not Google Chrome plugins.

    2) Will C3 have exporters ?

    Yes.

    3) If C3 does not have exporters will the old exporters work?

    Yes.

    4) If Chrome breaks C3 will we be able to run it without Chrome?

It's highly unlikely Chrome will implement a breaking change into the browser, whilst C3 is unique the technologies it uses are fundamental and would be respected during browser updates. Regardless, the stable version of Chrome runs several versions behind Canary for this very reason, and Scirra would have a heads up thanks to this.

    5) Will game performance be faster on all devices or the same ?

It's been known for a while that the runtime is the same as C2s, so game performance will at least be the same. Due to the constantly improving capabilities of device hardware, you could easily argue that the average performance will improve.

    6) Are there any new features besides running on all devices or is that it?

Scirra have stated several times that there will be regular announcements from here till beta - there's more to come.

    7) Is this just an editor update or will you have ways to make games even easier?

C3 was originally posited as an editor update, however the most recent blog post hinted at new export options. When you consider the increased multi-platform support (Mac and Linux) and game-dev-on-the-move thanks to mobile support, making games has clearly got easier.

    8) Will you finally make a publishing channel to help with marketing games or no?

Scirra readily promote games made in C2/3, just use any of their social media hashtags or reach out to their social media manager Laura.

  • Ok thanks for the answers but I have questions about 4 and 8.

    4) That still doesn't answer the question if Chrome breaks C3 , will we be able to run it desktop. Saying that it would never happen is very unrealistic. Especially how much trouble Construct 2 had with 3rd party developers I don't think mysteriously its going to be fixing itself.

    8) That's not enough they need a showcase section that is current and a proper marketing channel. There is no game that blew up because of Construct tweets. The marketing channel needs an huge overhaul. Games are making it because the developer did it we need more help.

Chrome release "Canary" versions of the browser which are ahead of public release. Construct 3 can be tested on those branches to ensure there are no breaking changes.

Chrome updates will not be coming out the blue.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads

Ok but that doesn't answer the question if Chrome breaks it can we run it on the computer or wait for your fix? Will you pay us if the fix takes us longer than a week or month?

Canary versions will give us a big heads up of any impending breaking changes. Regardless, if something does happen out of the blue offline builds would continue to work.

  • Will you pay us if the fix takes us longer than a week or month?

Oh come on that's just being silly - whilst C3 relies on the Chrome browser, Scirra are not responsible for it.

C3 also relies on your monitor to work, would you hold Scirra responsible if a video card driver stopped your monitor from working?

This is ignoring the fact that you can actually rollback Chrome versions.. And that the offline version would be unaffected.

  • ""Oh come on that's just being silly - whilst C3 relies on the Chrome browser, Scirra are not responsible for it.""

You lost me when you said C3 developers are not responsible if C3 breaks because of Chrome. That's exactly what Tom and Ashley would say. Thats the new future excuse when something goes wrong with C3. Thank you for your time.

  • Am I right in saying your initial concern was that a new update to Chrome could stop Construct 3 working?

  • a new update to Chrome could stop Construct 3 working?

Here we go again cant use construct 2 without third party compiler now can use Construct 3 without one more add third party software with it... One more headache on the Compiler one we all have already. Here i was thinking that Subscription was the only Bad News but a new third party need... WHO DID REALIZE THAT WE NEED a third party Browser on top of what we have already Cocoon and Intel XDK, remember WHEN we have compiler BUG and we post it on Scirra.com Tom and Ashley say they cant do nothing about it so we get #^%$ NOW when Chrome or Firefox or which every not working lol

  • Am I right in saying your initial concern was that a new update to Chrome could stop Construct 3 working?

So your saying there will be no breaking C3 no matter what Chrome does, just turn the wifi off and it run offline. And if this is the case then why do we need to run it in Chrome since it can work without it?

New browser updates should not affect offline versions of C3, and for online versions we'll have a long lead on updates as they are released through Canary first.

[quote:199hgui8]And if this is the case then why do we need to run it in Chrome since it can work without it?

A lot of people seem to be upset that there's the option to run it in the browser or on the mobile. Even if it's not something you're going to make use of, can you not understand that others might see benefits from it and it's a nice to have feature?

I'm struggling to understand your post, do you have a question?

I'm gonna say no.. no, he can't.
