C3 Versioning/Collaborating feature

Post » Thu Jun 08, 2017 2:38 pm

Actually I'm working (with some difficulties...) in a team using C2 and a versioning system (Git) thats helps us to collaborate, have a code history etc etc...

How it will handle versioning/team collaboration/multiple user edits C3? I'm a bit skeptical about the "single .c3capx" or "cloud save" options related to canonical versioning system.

Any updates on that?
Actually is impossible to work simultaneously on C3. will one day be possible?

I'm sorry about tagging @Ashley, but after some month I need to know what I have to plan for my company.
Will be expected a full offline version with files physically stored on PC OR a virtual git integration for multiple user working on a single project?

We intend to have a desktop build that can save folder-based projects like C2 can, but we have no ETA at this time. I would guess early next year.

Thank you Ashley for let me know. I'll continue to be subscribed to C3 but I continue using C2 in production until this foundamental (for us) feature will be released ;)

@Ashley Superpowers HTML5 is an open source framework for creative collaboration (the default module is a 3D engine for game dev, but it can also be used to edit websites or LOVE2D games): http://superpowers-html5.com/index.en.html

Any chance the code from that could be back-ported into C3? Real time collaboration would amplify C3's usefulness as an educational tool and for game jams :)

Real-time collaboration has some extraordinarily difficult problems to the extent I am sceptical it would be as useful as anyone imagines. See our response here.
