Chrome apps for Android and iOS

Discussion and feedback on Construct 2

Seems interesting and may make publishing to mobile easier?

"You can run your Chrome app on a device or emulator using the command-line or an IDE, and you can also use the Chrome Apps Developer Tool to run your app on an Android device without the need to install the mobile platforms SDK or an IDE.

For those who dont know, Chrome packaged apps are written in HTML, JavaScript, and CSS, but launch outside the browser, work offline by default, and access certain APIs not available to Web apps. For these mobile apps, developers have access to Cordova APIs as well as many of the core Chrome API."

Excellent find, thanks. I hope it runs WebGL.

It looks like an extension of PhoneGap, which most likely means it inherits the poor performance of the web view.

I can confirm. Ran a test application and it ran like garbage. Runs fine if I open it in my Chrome browser, but as a packaged Chrome app it was about 3x slower
