Chrome Web Store for Construct3

Post » Sat Aug 12, 2017 5:54 pm

@Tom & @Ashley, sInce Construct3 runs in Chrome and it stores the app locally, has Scirra considered offering Construct3 as a Chrome app? Since there's a market for Chromebooks for web development (http://www.techrepublic.com/article/so-you-want-to-develop-on-a-chromebook/, http://www.eq8.eu/blogs/18-chromebook-for-web-developers, https://www.google.com/search?q=chromebooks+for+web+development), the idea of having a offline app would be fairly attractive (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search/web%20development).

Does the chrome store offer recurring payments with no service fees?
It's the exact same technology, so there's no benefit for them there.

If you run Construct3 on Chrome (only browser supported by the web app), you would see that a local copy is stored in the user's profile and it prompts the user to make a link to that local copy. The benefit is having Construct3 as an app running on Chrome with its own shortcut on the apps tab (https://support.google.com/chrome_webst ... er/3060053).

They can tell users to click on the controls button, and click on add to desktop under more tools, or drag the url down to the other bookmarks.
They could use the Firefox store as well when that browser becomes available, but they won't, because they don't want to go through another party to do the subscription.

As much as I understand, Construct3 doesn't run on Firefox.

It's almost there. Just a few updates are needed from Mozilla, which is usually fairly often compared to Ios, or Edge.
Point is Scirra is actively working on it, as well as a true desktop version.

We'd like to submit C3 to the Chrome Web Store, but not until C3 is out of beta.

You can already use the "add to shelf" feature to add C3 to your Chromebook.
