CocoonJS and storing data

Discussion and feedback on Construct 2

Post » Fri May 25, 2012 11:43 am

With phonegap there are APIs to create and access an SQLlite database for Android.
This is possible if you use the call javascript plugin in C2 and build an APK in Eclipse with PhoneGap.

Is this possible with Cocoon JS or is it a planned feature?

In addition I have written a simple web-storage test, which just gives a black screen through the CocoonJS launcher:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/41218343/WebStorage.zip

Will web-storage be implemented?

Alternatively which storage options will we have, if we use CocoonJS to wrap our C2 outputs?

Thanks in advance if anyone has any answers, and I do understand that CocoonJS is in its early stages.Nathan2012-05-25 11:46:01

I don't think WebStorage is supported in CocoonJS, I'll ask them if they can add support for it.

PhoneGap is generally too slow for games - I don't think it would solve much even if we added support for storage there. It ought to work with WebStorage in PhoneGap anyway.Ashley2012-05-25 12:33:37

Hello,

We do not currently support WebStorage (we support Local Storage only). But we are working on giving hybrid WebView and accelerated canvas support in the next release, so you should be able to use the webview to get access to this kind of features. Stay tuned to our next release!

Dear felixsg,

The "export to APK" you mention is the cloud compilation system we are working on. It will be released sooner that you might expect in beta so you can generate the final xarchive and APK files.
