Collision with Inclined Surfaces

  • Hi, I am new to Construct and to this forums.

I am a programmer and I have developed a few arcade games so far.

I discovered Construct2 recently and I am impressed with how easily I can prototype my ideas.

The thing is that I started with a prototype for a platformer that I am already programming directly through code but I got stuck at this point.

I have read that some important features, like Object Families, are available to the Personal Edition.

What about different kinds of collision? Is there a way to personalize the collision detection on the free edition, so that it can go up and down inclined surfaces for example?

    Sorry for the long introductory post <img src="smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • well Kuramayoko10 it comes down to how you organize your collision mesh/shape

You might want to look here..it was a similar question....basically its all about how you set up your inclined plane...check the collision mesh...if you have any errors your platform may not work properly...And try to remember the Bottom line is that anything is possible ...you CAN do what you want to but you may just need to figure out HOW to do it... it may just take alternative thinking to get it happening..Think outside the box..

check this post here for similar question....

  • kuramayoko10 - can you describe in more detail what you mean? The free edition already supports slopes in the Platform movement and can test collisions with rotated objects or objects with arbitrary collision polygons.

  • Ah, I have found it :)

I personalized my slopes by changing the collision polygon of some tiles. Is this the best way to do so?

When I had first looked into the manual I searched for inclined surface and slopes. It cited that slopes were recognized automatically but it was not working for me.

Now I looked again, but under collision, and I found out about the collision polygon icon in the sprite editor.

    Sorry for that!
