If you could make an option (preferably in the picture editor) that allows you to set image's export quality (ie. png, jpeg, and in case of jpeg allows you to set it's export quality)[/quote:1snlony9]
The .cap file stores uncompressed data, but when you export, all images are compressed as lossless PNGs. So you should get pretty good filesizes already :)

Wow, this is the first update of Construct that I've been able to work on a project for a long time without a crash! This is shaping up to be the best program in its league. As soon as joypad support is incorporated and behaviours support multiple players, Construct may turn out to be my game development tool of choice. Keep up the excellent work, Ashley!

saving as lossless pngs is not compressing :)
I have some photos (something like player avatars) in my game and I think they would weigh less if they were compressed as jpegs in runtime, than they weigh now as pngs. just a suggestion :)
and yes, the filesizes are really small[/size:yzxs5sb0]

It is - the filesizes are smaller than BMP, and there is no quality difference. However, given the way Construct works, it'd be difficult to implement different compression formats for specific images, I'm afraid. And if all images were exported as JPG, pixel artwork and game sprites would come out all artefacted. As a workaround, you could try storing your JPGs as external files, and load them at runtime.

I use only PNG and BMP formats. Who in their right mind would use JPG?
I haven't checked if it was added yet, but I want GIF import for the animations.
Anyway, thanks for the awesome updates!

(0.96.3 crashes a lot and had some slight annoyances, so I kept 0.96.2 for a while.)

anyone who has at least 20 photographs in their game and wants to make the game small in size :) I just tested a compression of photos from my game and JPG=21KB , PNG=158KB. But, as Ashley said, there is no way to store jpegs in the game exe. Loading from external files is the only option sadly :(
