Man, thanks, I've tested the exe but Construct still won't launch preview and gives me the same error. :(

I'll look in to that, but the new file is just trying to fix the problem for people who couldn't start up Construct (incorrect configuration error or something like that). I'd be interested to hear if it does/doesn't fix it for anyone!

The new EXE doesn't seem to make a difference here.

And you're installing the Visual Studio 2005 redist every time? That's the crucial thing to enable the IDE to run. Apart from that, this is bad, I have no idea what would cause that, I can't think of anything I've changed at all related to this problem since 0.99.3...

Ah, actually I just realised, maybe the redist has changed...
If you're having startup problems can you install this and let me know if it fixes it?

This build seems to have performance problems too. Like, sometimes I get 5-10 fps, then I get 60 fps... I haven't yet figured out what causes this. I just had like 20fps for the whole day, now I changed one canvas object to 50% opacity and boom, 60fps, no slowdowns. This doesn't always work though, but it must've done something.

Though during the last couple of versions, I noticed that there were still Construct Processes running the background when I closed the program, which slowed down the computer.

Also, I use dual screens and if I have Firefox (or Songbird, curiously) open on the second monitor), the performance drops a LOT as well.

Weird weird.

Haha, what the hell! I found out what's causing it:

I have 2 players, both have an x360 controller Plugin assigned to them. If I leave the second controller idle for a long time, it disconnects automatically - and THAT's when the framerate is dropping like crazy. If I connect again, smooth 60fps.

Totally funky.

OK, well I think I figured out the issue, so there can be a new build later today :)
