Construct 2 Competition!

Discussion and feedback on Construct 2

Post » Thu Oct 27, 2011 6:18 am

My Entry:

a) Paper Planets Have No Gravity
b) http://www.pcnogueira.com.br/jogos/paperplanets/
c) Brazil

Drag the moons with your mouse to make the boxes reach the planets.
(took us a lot of time to draw everything, but it was very fun)
Good luck for everyone!

PS: For some reason, sometimes (happened one time on a MAC) the game does not fully load and the PLAY does not work, refresh the page and everything will be alright.leparlon2011-10-27 12:53:45

Hey I've gone through the last entries and here is some review of the technical problems I've encountered on FireFox 7.0.1 with firebug active.

Maxum
"Astro Blaster"
FireFox doesn't keep the focus on the canvas (arrows and space made the inner content of the window move).
The ingame is immensely slow, 4 FPS - unplayable

Ize
"NEON"
Huge FPS drop on the title screen. When "volutes" disappeared, it feels nicer.
The game itself plays "normal"

Dcrew
"Space Cloggers"
on the beginning of level

firebug error - game freezes - unplayable
Component returned failure code: 0x80040111 (NS_ERROR_NOT_AVAILABLE) [nsIDOMCanvasRenderingContext2D.drawImage]
[Stopper sur une erreur] this.Fb;var b=this.V.frames[this.v],f=...ce-over")a.globalCompositeOperation=
C2runtime.js line 112

arandaschimpf
"The Astronaut"
On the 3rd application,

firebug error - game freezes - unplayable in the level itself
An attempt was made to use an object that is not, or is no longer, usable
[Stopper sur une erreur] lastAudio.currentTime = 0;
c2runtime.js line 4652

Kastas
"Trashoid Attack"

On startup of the page firebug error/warning in js code:
element.dispatchEvent is not a function
line 5733 in prototype.js
Forcing to execute works and the game loads and play.

Ingame - pressing the down key make the content slide. (same "error" as Maxum's "Astro blaster"

16 FPS

Lightfox
"Space Rescue"
Slower play and scrolling in story mode than in arcade.
Nevertheless, regular freezes and collisions miss.
Also, the same "no focus canvas" bug as reported in earlier entries.
I see a "scrolling gap" on screen, a black line on the "ground sprite" and freezes happen when this line appears, and in the middle of that ground object.

Misuuu
"Color Space"
15-20 fps
Fully playable.
I see a "scrolling gap" on screen, a white line tinkering in the background and slowly going left.
New to Construct ? Where to start

Morning.

a) Parsec
b) http://www.corvidaegames.co.uk/html5games/space/
c) England

Only tested it on Firefox unfortunately due to a lack of time.

And on that note, I'm finally off to bed :) [Jebus, had to edit this twice before I got it right, DEFINITELY bed time - look forward to playing everyone's games when I get up!]Corvidae2011-10-27 08:27:09

@Dabbijo thanks :) it has some problems in Chrome but once ingame it should work fine :D

@Kyatric thanks for "debugging" :D
Firebug is a good idea i should try that in the future :)
The FPS Drop only occurs in Chrome for me tho, in FF7 it runs fine... atleast on my Home-PC

The Game is pretty demanding cause of the multi layer scrolling, all the objects and the SUPERHUGE Eventlists in the background...

I've tried working with Groups ON/OFF to reduce the workload a bit, which kind of worked... but it's my first game so i promise i'll get better at saving cpu to make the games run better on slower pc's :)

EDIT:

Also: Some really awesome entries so far :DIze2011-10-27 08:45:01
