Casino? money? who knows? but the target is the same!
  • I just started to using Construct 2 and I can't say If I want to use it or no. I was using game maker for same time and those two programs are so simalar that I can't say what is better.Game maker can run game from simple .exe and you don't need to upload it on web. But Construct 2 is easier to use. So pls tell me what is better. I was thinking about others like Scratch etc.. but these two are biggest rivals.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Construct Classic is the best in my opinion. It's fast, extendable, and easy to use, what else should we want? <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" /> Maybe a proper python support, but it's still one of the best 2d engines(at least on windows.)

  • But its fact that is 2D, in GM you can make a lot 3D games If you have knowledge and for me the structure of the program (windows, boxes) I like more GM. But I like also CC because really its very easy to use and its simple.

also, C2 seems like it's about to get an exe wrapper. I used gamemaker a long time ago. imo, cc and c2 are both much better at what they do. for the amount of scripting required in game maker, you may as well just learn action script and use flash

  • I have experience from GM CC and C2 and I think it depends what you really want to do. This is an old game demo I created long time ago in GM using openGL plugin:

These are something I have created in CC:

    and

This is what I have made in C2:

  • DO NOT use Game Maker.

    1. If you want to make a decent game, 90% of your game creation will be scripting. The drag and drop is very limited, and only good for very simple games.

    2. C2 should get an exe wrapper soon.

    3. In game maker, 50% of the time is spent getting past its awful bugs,

    features, and generally useless interface.

    4. Have fun getting help from the Game Maker community.

    Trust me. Use C2.

  • If you ask this question on the Scirra forums, you'll obviously get Scirra-favoured answers :) C2 can make HTML5 games that work on a wide range of platforms, and it's cheaper than the HTML5 version of GameMaker.

  • Game maker isn't that bad. Remember it has been out for 10 years. I like c2 a lot and I think it is the best 2d engine out there

  • Game maker has a steep learning curve ,but once you get use to scripting you can make some pretty impressive 3d and 2d games with it.It's got ogre3d support as well.Construct2 has got a long way to go still before any comparisons can be made. The same can be said for game maker's html5 maker.

I am still sticking to Construct Classic though, At least until construct 2 can do what classic construct can do.

  • Game Maker is good except the tearing bug, Construct Classic have smooth gameplay and no tearing screen however it was unstable for me to use, both engines have their own pros and cons, for smart usage u may can collaborate using them both, for example u can take tilesets and level design from GameMaker html5 to C2 proj ;).
