Construct2 De-exporter?

Discussion and feedback on Construct 2

Post » Sat Feb 14, 2015 11:26 am

I got a problem! My friend want a capx from me but the problem is that I have deleted the capx. I noticed I have exported the html5 game to dropbox. Is there is anyone to de-export it to create it as a capx? or it's lost forever? :(

for multiple reason, this is not only impossible but also unwanted as a feature to prevent reverse engineering.
Game design is all about decomposing the core of your game so it becomes simple instructions.

You still have the exported files, just play the game and re-create it.
It's going to be tough if your game's long/complex but there's no other way.

If you've configured backups to Dropbox or similar then you might find that the backups still exist. Otherwise try a drive scanner to to see if you can recover the file even though it's been deleted, you might get lucky that way.
I only occasionally visit - I'm learning C# for Unity, but c2 is still a respectable game engine imo....

If you ever saved the .capx to dropbox, you can go to dropbox.com and click the trash can icon. It will show any deleted files. Then you just have to click the file you want to restore and it will do it.

No .caproj files or .capx backups of it?

You just learned the hard way why you should keep your work safe with Construct 2's backup options.

"De-exporting" is deliberately made as hard as possible to prevent people's work being reverse engineered, which is a significant feature for a lot of people. I am not aware of any cases where any exported project has been usefully de-exported. We also do not have any internal tools to do it (which I don't know how we could write anyway since the obfuscater is pretty effective).
