continuous laser

Get help using Construct 2

Hi I want to create a continuous laser weapon that fires slowly, that will fire for say 3-5 seconds at a time and then gradually stops. In my fluxation game I tried to implement this but instead of one continous beam, it fires loads of objects and you can see they are seperate objects when you move the target reticle.

Ideally I would want the player to move the aiming point and the beam simply follow it. Then when it powers down it slowly gets smaller and dissapears.

Any help, thoughts, capx's would be greatly appreciated.

The beam should be a stretched sprite. Looking a the advanced 'ghost shooter' example in the examples folder should help you significantly.
