Destroy pixels

I'm looking to make a game wherein you freely modify the world, similar to terraria or minecraft (but not randomly generated). However, I would like for the scale of such modification to be very, very small - on the order of individual pixels. Is this possible at all? I know I could populate my game with millions of pixel-sized objects, but I have a feeling this would cause horrible issues. Unless it wouldn't? Please advise.

Check out canvas object, I recall seeing great example of worms like terrain done with it so search for that as well. :)

And yes, million little objects would be performance killer. Thousand or few could be doable, but anything more would kill the performance.

@Azeremnu

Hi,

I did this a while ago. Its not really much use in its current form as it kills performance. It might give you some ideas though.

Could change pixel destruction to use families in this example.
