This reminds a lot of Shadow Of The Ninja (Blue Shadow in the EU), which I played a lot as a kid. Man, those memories. Keep it going!

Thanks so much everyone :D

The game is designed in pictures and the doesn't have a defined order of creating things. I simply look at the map and create whatever comes up.
It's been mostly chronological order so far though, but as the game becomes more free to explore after the second boss, I'll also start creating things more openly.

Currently implementing the "Memory Dojo" a place where you can improve your skills. You enter it by finding a shrine where you can meditate.

And also progress on the world map:

The main path is going to be Geofront -> Disposal facility -> Hunt unit -> AI chambers -> Darklab -> Biocores -> Drone Factory -> Exodus platforms -> Primus Tower.

There's a few you can do in an optional order though.

How does the map work?

Is it like a map between levels where you choose where to go/what level to play next?
Or is it mirroring the platforming where, for example, at the Geofront you will be climbing/taking an elevator upwards?

That's the exact layout of the whole game. Each square is a 400x224 chunk. You're going to have a transport room on each of the "T" letters on the map where you can travel to another transport room.

Zooming into the map:

Anyone know if the debugger can be set to not show objects that don't exist in the scene?
Image
It's getting really slow now that I have a lot of objects (in the project). Single scenes don't have that many.

Yeah I don't think you can filter them out at all. What you can do though it mark specific things for your watch tab. But that may not suit your needs as well as just filtering out objects with no current entities in the world. :X

Also, this game looks amazing! D:
