Hello folks of Construct2 forum, I am Johnny Lu from Howling Arrow Studio.

Currently I am working on a small project alone, and it is called 【#PIXS::TD;】(pronounce as pix-tee-dee ). It's a retro style Sci-fi 2d tower defence game with some twist rules that I want to put it in.

This game is still in prototype, so it is a little rough, and I am working hard everyday to make it better and better. So, I am here for seeking feedback. If you guys have time, please give 【#PIXS::TD;】a try.

For now I am not putting any tutorial in the current demo, so please watch the video in the update report, it may give you a hint.

Hi, I have played your demo. Here is my opinion:

The graphics are an eye catcher and I liked the story very much. The whole concept gives a quirky, lively impression. For this early stage of development not bad.

But the gameplay - so far - is to sloppy. Is there a possibility to reload my skills? I was unable to kill off the big pixs because I was soon out of ammo.

I would also put a description of the game objectives into the demo itself.

Thank you very much for your reply @liquidmetal. I am very appreciate that you like the art style and the story.

So far I got many feedback about the usability of the skill system ,which is not quite well. And the power and effect of Skill design have to be more specific to the enemy and players.

For example, the skills reload automatically with a cool-down timer, but in the early version , many players gave me some feedback about "They are not quite sure which time they have to press the skill icon." So, in the first update I added a visual CD counter on the skill icon. I think in the next update I will add CD count-over Sound effect.

The other thing about the resource(the ammo you mentioned), actually when it turn into zero, you still can use your skills when CD is over. So you can use the Quantum Vacuum(The skill in the left.) rapidly to form a barrage fire. Maybe I have to make the resource concept more clearly.

However, for now my game still have to do more work to optimize the game experience. And you are right. It definitely needs a description about the game objective, and a tutorial must be added into games. Thank you.

Hello Folks, today I update some new feature , and recorded it to show the current situation about #PIXS::TD;.

Update report
1.Refine Skills UX Design, the icon blink alarm is better, and ready for a Sound FX.

2. Quantum vacuum had changed into new, better sprites with new way to draw PIXS. It is a kind of fun.

3.I also finished the first version of Skills Switch System that allow you change your skill real time in the game, so player can change proper skills in the proper timing with their own strategy , but the new skill icon is still not working so far.

:D Hello everyone:

I already update the first post about my game 【#PIXS::TD;】。

Please read my new update report below, or check out the first post of new content and play the new version of 【#PIXS::TD;】。
Please notice that This game still in the prototype production. The game experience is still not final.

    Update List:
    1.Add Level up gold button, redesign the level up system into one button.

    2.Add Resource upgrade button. It can increase the growth rate of the auto-generate resource.

    3.Add Skill Switch system to allow you to switch your skill immediately. Just press E key to switch the left row of skills. R Key to switch mid row of skills. You also can use mouse to switch the skills my holding skill icons. There is only one skill in the right row.

    4.There is totally 5 Skills in this level. You can see that how they works in the video.

    5. I redesign the way that the PIXS flow into the datastream. As you can see, now PIXS is hooking on the arrow of the datastream track. So player can predict the position of the PIXS more easier than before.

    6. Caution : V0.2.4 is extremely hard right now. If you can't beat the game, that is normal. It will be tune down difficulty in a couple of days.

Narrative system; is it monologue such as mission briefing?

Hello, there will be a character talking to the players in the game, and the dialog will be change base on the game progress.
And Yes,mission briefing is one of the subject that character will take about.
