Adjusting the game screen for different resolutions (Letterbox scale)
  • Hi everyone,

Is there a way to make different text colors in a simple text object without a plugin?

    Something like this...

    Example:

        <font color=blue>Player name</font><font color=black> - Can you help me with this </font><font color=green>topic</font><font color=black> ?</font>

    <img src="smileys/smiley24.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • That would be very nice!

: Maybe a new feature on a plugin?

  • Septeven ;)

I have an idea but not sure. I'll think about it

  • <img src="smileys/smiley17.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Thanks for the reply guys, I tried different things but seems like the "set color" action only apply to the whole text object and not parts of the text on it! <img src="smileys/smiley24.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Don't try, it's just impossible for the moment.

The only way may be a third party plugin. (It means you won't be able to publish your game on the Scirra Arcade).

As I said, I got an idea but I'm not sure.

I'll get back to you if I do this plugin.

  • The only way to do it without a third party plugin is to split the text up into separate text objects per word.

That is what I thought for a plugin ;)

  • septeven, thank you for the quick reply! I'll definitely be very interested in trying out the plugin.<img src="smileys/smiley20.gif" border="0" align="middle" /> It would be very nice and interesting! Thank you again Septeven!

R0J0hound, Wow that's really an amazing idea!<img src="smileys/smiley16.gif" border="0" align="middle" /> Thank you very much! The falling effects looks amazing too xD! I just enable the event to see what was it! <img src="smileys/smiley20.gif" border="0" align="middle" /> Thank you!

  • I went searching for this subject.

Has there been no chance in this? I'm asking because I want to try:

    [quote:2plmwbv0]7:00: Had breakfast.

7:30: Killed the neighbour's cat (not really).

8:00: Had breakfast (I'm big boned)

It would make the text box look much more professional.

  • I am a web developer for my day job and I'd tackle this in HTML through the use of nested elements around particular words in a sentence. Maybe the same approach can be applied to the creation of a plugin for Construct 2? I'm quite new to this program myself, but I'll gladly take a look when I get the time and see if I can make something.

  • R0J0hound: Sorry to reopen a very old thread, but I needed this solution. First of all, I wanted to thank you for sharing the file. I study it and adapted to my needs. I wonder if there is a way to put a list of words in the text object that will stay with the same color and if I can define a group of characters instead of using words. Thanks again.

Obs.: Please disregard this post. I found a simple solution (rexrainbow plugin = http://www.scirra.com/forum/plugin-tag-text_topic82573.html) that attended me very well. Sorry for the inconvenience.
