Disable collision for Physics Objects

Get help using Construct 2

Post » Wed Jan 04, 2012 10:48 pm

Hello.
Let's say I have three objects in my layout:
a Player, which has by Physics and Platform behaviors, and has his collision mask set to Bounding Box.
a Ball, which is only affected by Physics and has his collision mask set to Circle.
wall, also only affected by Physics and that has his collision mask set to Bounding Box.

I'd like both of my Player and Ball objects to collide with the wall, but I don't want them to collide with each other. Is it (yet) possible?

There's no way that I'm aware of to do that, so I'd say it is indeed not possible.

Also, it is usualy not recommanded to add platform AND physic behaviors to the same object.
Also do you absolutely need physics ?

You could check the how do I FAQ there are examples of how to make objects push other objects and stuff like that simulating a physic behavior without the use of the actual behavior.Kyatric2012-01-05 00:02:44

Big picture, big picture, just tell us about your game, or the mecanics you want to implement. Or maybe you're just testing.
Sometimes seeing the big picture can help find workarounds

If this is only what you want, than it's quite easy.

Hello. Thanks for your example, but that's not exactly what I meant, so I'll try to describe my thought :
I'd like to control the player behavior with Physics actions, like Impulse, and Platform behavior, but I don't want it to interact with any other Physic object.

Anyway, I'll try with the custom movement behavior :) Morhaus2012-01-05 18:54:38

Some example of multiple physics layer :

But that's quite annoying to do...

An improved example :

Much more effective :)

Please tell me what you think about it, and how I could make it even better :)Morhaus2012-01-05 20:25:24

It looks good, I don't see any problem with that, or I don't know what you're trying to do.
