Distortion with MOD object?

I've been playing around with Construct for the past few days and it's been a blast so far, but as a composer I have a semi-major concern. Whenever I use the MOD object, it plays back whatever file I load distorted like so:

Every mod I've tried, .MOD, .S3M, .XM, and .IT, produces this distortion to varying degrees. Additionally, there seems to be no way to set them to loop. I searched both the forums and the bug tracker, but there seems to be no-one else experiencing this issue -- is it just me? :(

I could convert to .OGG or whatever, but I'd lose the loop points in the original mod, and the thought of a conversion from a 50kb file to a 2mb one is kinda depressing considering I use chiptunes partially to keep file sizes down! :)

I'll look into it for sure, but this worries me as we use a fairly standard MOD playing library, which really should be fine. I'm not sure what we can do other than change to another playing engine..
