Does unnecessary events slow down performance?

Now I have one big main event where is basically all what my game needs. I started to think does unnecessary events slow down performance? Some event are basically "useless" almost all the time and used only when you play level where you meet that enemy. Like a final boss. So it is good to cut all code different events and use only when game really need that or is that splitting just wasting of time?
