Doubt about my new RPG gameplay

If you have found a bug, or have a suggestion/comment then leave it here

Hello again, I've posted just a few minutes ago the divulgation of my new RPG ( that have no replies yet ), and I want your opinion about the gameplay:

Do you think that it's needed a "defend command" on it, or you think that there's no need of a "defend command" in the game?

(Sorry for saying "defend command",it's a strange vocabulary, I know, but I have no idea of how to say that right now )

As you can see in the demo [( link: www. scirra.com/arcade/addicting-action-games/9939/new-project-by-alan ) again, i don't have permission to post links.. please copy remove the space of the link ] the defend animation is a "little bit" bug and, personally, I think that there's no need to "defend" in this type of game...

So, please, answer

If you mean the block.. it really depends on the game play. If you have lots of health or perhaps a system where your health regenerates over time then the block probably wouldn't get used.

In some situations... when the player has limited health or you have ranged attackers like archers the block feature could be good for the game play.

At the moment keep it in and see where the rest of your development takes you...arontwose2013-10-31 05:34:51

I think a defense is a nice idea, maybe the player could earn them during game play?

The big problem in the option to defense is its animation. As you can see in the demo, the animation is weird, I think this happens mainly because "he" keeps the sword in front of his face, and, the rest of the body remain static too... I don't know what to do anymore... Do you have any suggestions on how should be the "position" of the character during the "defense mode"?

Had a quick look as i was passing i am thinking of doing something similar to this game wise as a side project my top down rpg is going badly

I like the block of the shield

the position of the character is cool I like the animation, if you are blocking generally you will probably be looking at what you are blocking against.

If it is an rpg you might get bigger shields for more effective blocking or all body blocking

crouch blocking

if he gets to change weapon to maybe two handed weapons the shield might get replaced by another part of a larger weapon keeping the weapon there might save you some animation frames

perhaps some sort of "power bar/HP bar for block/shield" to stop players constantly blocking or a shield bash would be cool to forward and block

I personally on the controls would have space bar as jump up arrow I find difficult as a player
