Echo Thrust - Thrust With A Twist

Made in under 12 hours with crude ASCII graphics. Echo Thrust is a simple Thrust clone with a bit of a twist. The aim is simple collect the hearts. When a heart is collected a version of your past self is created (an echo) and these must be avoided. Lose 100% of your shield and it's game over

Controls:

Titlescreen:

Shift - Start Game

F1 - Clears the current Highscore to 0

In Game:

Shift - Thrust

Arrow Keys - Move

Escape - Quits to Titlescreen









I finally finished something. I'm quite proud of myself considering how lazy I am when it comes to getting anything done.

Thanks. Was thinking of expanding the game but haven't really had enough feedback (from other websites) that suggested investing more time would be time well spent.

Bugs: Somtimes no hearts. Sometimes no echoes.
Game slowdown over time.
Also, it looks more like a prototype, not game. More levels and sound needed

Thanks. Didn't know about the no echo bug will have a look into that. Still can't sort the no heart bug, will have to dig deeper.

It was a prototype. Well I threw it together in under 12 hours. Most of that was getting the bloody echo system working right.

Do you think the graphics are OK if I added more levels and stuff? I think that might be whats putting people off.

I liked graphics. Maybe just apply different colours to tiles on different levels to vary it? Old good trick, you know

Agreed - different colours for further levels does at least give some sort of illusion of progression.
