Personally I would prefer just a vertex/pixel rather than using an image.
Would it be possible to create arrays of pixels in C2 sort of like an animation with frames?

All are possible with C2 but need fast PC , arrays of pixels ... Each pixel means million of sprite ....

This particle engine use Threejs and can be done with the plugin.. i must see..

Well I really wasn't asking for 3js integration.
More like the particles object as a shader.
I know an animated particle emitter might be a bit much.
