Error after uploading game to server

Discussion and feedback on Construct 2

Hey all, I was hoping I could get some help
My friend offered to host my game for me (to put on kongregate).
However, when I try it out (outside of Kongregate) I get nothing but a black screen and this error in the Dev console:

Creating Application Cache with manifest http://squiddster.theorangeblock.org/offline.appcache
Application Cache Checking event
Application Cache Error event: Invalid manifest mime type (text/plain) http://squiddster.theorangeblock.org/offline.appcache

The game should be here. He said he was sure he is linking to the index.html.

Any help would be appreciated.sqiddster2012-02-12 11:57:29

Hmm, it still is not working.
This is what my friend says is the issue:

"Web browsers don't load the game even though the MIME type is set in a .htaccess file. The game does however work on a local WAMP server."

Does it work if you just export it as a normal HTML5 website and upload? I noticed you made some changes to the HTML, e.g. this:
<script data-djssrc="jquery-1.7.1.min.js" type="text/djs"></script>
<script data-djssrc="//www.kongregate.com/javascripts/kongregate_api.js" type="text/djs"></script>
'data-djssrc' is not a valid <script> property AFAIK so this is probably breaking it. Also, if you're using the Kongregate API, it might only work when viewed from inside Kongregate (i.e. you have to submit it first).

@Ashley
I was not aware of any modification to the script... I will re-upload a fresh version.
Also, I tested it on dropbox and it actually does work outside of Kongregate.

Thanks for your help, I'll keep you posted. If anyone has any more suggestions, let me know ;)

Well I created a fresh export of both the Kongregate one and a regular export.
I confirmed they worked from Dropbox however the friend who is hosting it for me says that neither file is working.

I haven't been in contact since. Here is the link (I am not sure which version this is, Kongregate or not.)

I really need assistance with this, thanks!

It's a black screen in Chrome, but it works fine in Firefox 10.0.1. (Except, for some reason, it's aligned to the top left of the screen rather than the center, did you do that on purpose?)

I can't really help any more than letting you know that much... Good luck getting it working. SullyTheStrange2012-02-13 20:55:41

Hello,

I'm new here! I don't know anything about programming or engines but I'm a Game Art student in Denver.

We are making a game for a school project. I'm exporting the game but when I uploaded it in dropbox and copy and past the public link, it doesn't work.

Here is the link to the project
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/27999098/backg1level.capx

We still don't have the player's part completed, we're working on it. This supposes to be a platform game. We just started it.

@gndwestwd, you need to export your game as an HTML5 website, and share the public link of index.html.

@Sulleythestrange, that's interesting. It does not work on firefox for me.
Also, I think the alignment is a side-effect of Kongregate export.

Any more help from somebody knowledgeable of the subject would be great, thanks!
